Overview

Skeleton Crew was an incredible project to lead. One of the highlights was collaborating with some of the most iconic figures in the VFX world: John Knoll, Jon Favreau, and Jon Watts.

My team focused primarily on episodes 2 and 3, where we developed the look of Port Borgo — a pirate space station tucked near a nebula in a galaxy far, far away. This environment gave us the opportunity to create rich, cinematic visuals with a unique tone: gritty and mysterious, yet with a hint of Caribbean flair in space.

Process & Breakdown

We integrated a practical model of the hero ship with a fully CG environment, complete with animated thrusters and atmospheric elements. I led the setup of the sequence templates, building layered compositions that included volumetric haze, light shafts, and custom atmospheric passes to create a moody, otherworldly vibe.

The work balanced technical complexity with creative storytelling — crafting a believable world while supporting the tone and pacing of the show.
